Shoot Films, Not People: Stand for something. Fall for nothing. With it’s name inspired by the rally-cry of activists, filmmakers, and black people throughout the country in response to the acquittal of the four LAPD officers who had brutalized Rodney King, Shoot Films, Not People was founded in 2005 to educate and inform people about the black experience through the medium of filmmaking, later adding a fashion line in 2019.
Originally founded in New York City over fifteen years ago, and relocated to Los Angeles in 2016 – Shoot Films, Not People offers powerful testaments to the black experience through film, as well as soft, eye-catching branded merchandise that features original artwork and limited reworked/reconstructed designs. These stunning pieces of wearable art send a clear message, inspire conversation, and help spread the message against gun violence.
As part of our never-ending commitment to lifting black voices and educating the public on the black experience, Shoot Films, Not People looks forward to supporting individuals looking to cultivate their own creative pathways through filmmaking classes and other educational opportunities in the future.
